Beef and Beer Stew

Ingredients

  • 600 gm stewing steak (round or topside)
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned flour
  • 30 gm butter
  • 1 onion – thinly sliced
  • 1/2 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 diced potatoes
  • 2 sliced carrots

Directions

  1. Melt butter in frying pan and cook onion and garlic until soft.
  2. Toss meat in seasoned flour. Add meat and brown.
  3. Add sugar, beef and sauces along with water.
  4. Simmer gently uncovered for 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add vegetables and cook covered for ½ hour.
