Golden Sausages.

Ingredients

  • 500gms Sausages
  • 1 carrot..grated
  • 1 onion..finely chopped
  • 2 TBSP flour
  • 1 TBSP brown sugar
  • 2 TBSP malt vinegar
  • 1 TBSP worcester sauce
  • 1 TBSP tomato sauce

Directions

  1. Prick sausages all over and put them into a casserole dish(I put mine in a pot of water first and bring to the boil, simmer gently to release extra fat out of sausages)
  2. Place grated carrot and onion over the top of sausages in casserole dish.
  3. Put flour in bowl, add sugar, sauces and vinegar and mix to a paste with a little cold water, slowly pour 2 cups of water into bowl and mix altogether.
  4. Pour mixture over the sausages and veges and stir through gently.
  5. Put lid on dish and cook slowly at 180oC for 2 hours.
  6. Serve with creamy mashed potato and green peas if desired!
  7. You can serve it with any vege you wish, or even with rice.

Loved this one! Only thing I did was to put an apple (segmented and cored) in with the carrots and onions to make it stretch a litte further. Great taste, smell and is reminiscent of the dishes my grandma used to make.

My kids loved it. I used nice big thick sausages. Kids can't wait until I make this again!
